The Pumpking (2020)
“What Lies in the leaves?”
Asks the King of the Pumpkins,
”A covered path,
unseen; unknown?
Or perhaps a place
to rest my bones?”
The leaves whispered back,
”Turn from here, King of yore,
For the only rest here
Is in the forest floor.”
This little snippet was written for a friend during a difficult time of the year.
