Light of Luminyr (2019)

Telling the stories of the “Luminyr” is an ongoing passion of mine which began two years before the production of Light of Luminyr, my first children’s book. The book tells the story of little lightbulb-seeking creatures called the Luminyr, and tackles the difficult topic of depression with metaphors more readily understood by kids and adults alike.

The book is 18 pages, split into 11 individual illustrations. After an extensive brainstorming/research phase conducted in a specially-crafted sketchbook, I proceeded to Photoshop and InDesign to carry the ideas through to completion.

All-in-all, the production of the project spanned 6 weeks and took around 105 hours from start to finish. I learned a lot! Most importantly, Light of Luminyr was the first project in which I took an idea from development all the way to distribution.

and then...

I took the book to Kickstarter. Offering everything from stickers to prints- and even a process booklet- the campaign was enormously successful and finished with 646% of the necessary support! I worked with a local printer and distributed completely independently. It was incredible, and a huge step in my career as a creative!

and find a light that’s your own style;

If you keep your light on bright and true,
Your light will help others find theirs, too!”
